What is the Life Adaptation Counseling Course?
The National Immigration Agency, Ministry of the Interior, regularly holds "Life Adaptation Counseling Classes for Foreigners" in all counties and cities across Taiwan. These courses are designed specifically for foreigners who have just arrived in Taiwan or are already living there, and are completely free.
The courses are conducted in the foreigner's native language or with translation, and cover:
Language Learning: Practical Chinese conversation, everyday phrases
Taiwanese Law: Labor laws, family law, residency and citizenship procedures
Health Insurance: Health insurance application, medical procedures, maternal and child services
Children's Education: Explanation of the school system, application for subsidies for children of new immigrants
Employment Resources: Job search channels, vocational training subsidies, entrepreneurship guidance
Personal Safety: Domestic violence protection resources, 1955 consultation channels

The courses are held in all counties and cities across Taiwan, typically at:
National Immigration Agency service stations in each county/city
Community activity centers
New immigrant learning centers
Some schools or libraries

Important Notes
Courses are primarily in Chinese, with some courses offering bilingual or native-speaker translation.
Completion of the course will earn you a certificate, which some counties and cities consider a bonus (e.g., for family members applying for entry into Taiwan).
