What is Maternity Allowance?
Maternity allowance is a cash incentive provided by local governments to encourage childbirth, paid in a lump sum after the newborn's birth. Due to varying budgets across cities and counties, the amount differs considerably; larger cities like Taipei and New Taipei City typically offer higher amounts, and some cities offer additional allowances for second and third children.
Who can apply?
Newborn's household registration must be in this county/city.
Parents (or one parent) must be registered in this county/city.
Applications are usually required within 6 months of birth (the deadline varies by county/city).
