What is the Pre-Registration New Immigrant Assistance Program?
This program aims to address the predicament faced by new immigrants who, before obtaining their nationality, are unable to apply for general social assistance (such as low-income assistance) due to legal restrictions. Through a specific fund, new immigrants facing economic hardship can enjoy the same social welfare benefits as citizens.
Subsidy Items
Living Assistance: Monthly payments based on low-income standards.
Medical Subsidy: Necessary medical expenses not covered by National Health Insurance (receipts and proof required).
Emergency Assistance: Emergency funding for major emergencies.
Maternity Subsidy: Provided based on low-income standards.
Postpartum Care Subsidy.
Application Requirements
Status: New immigrants who have not yet obtained Republic of China (Taiwan) citizenship.
Residence: Actual residence in the designated county/city (e.g., Taichung City) for at least 183 days annually.
Economic Requirements: Total family income, movable and immovable property must meet the low-income/lower-middle-income household standards of the respective county/city.
How to Apply?
Consultation: Contact the social affairs section or new immigrant service center of the district office in your registered residence or current residence area.
Documents Required: Prepare a copy of your residence permit, the latest household registration transcript for all family members, and income and property certificates.
Review: The Social Affairs Bureau will send personnel to conduct an on-site visit and eligibility review.
Important Notes
After obtaining citizenship, please apply directly to the township office in your registered residence area for the "General Social Assistance" program.
If you are divorced due to domestic violence and meet the economic requirements, you can still apply for this program.
