Youth Rent Subsidy in Taiwan: It Is Not a Separate Scheme
If you are looking for a standalone "youth rent subsidy" application, it does not exist. The old trial programme for single young renters and married couples was folded into the NT$30 billion Expanded Rent Subsidy. Being a single young renter is now a level and a multiplier inside that one scheme, not a separate form.
That matters practically: people go looking for a youth-specific application, do not find one, and conclude they are not eligible for anything.
What a single renter under 40 gets
Single renters under 40 fall into Level 3 of the scheme. The Level 3 base is NT$2,000–3,000 a month depending on the township or district you rent in, and the single-youth multiplier is 1.2×:
NT$2,000–3,000 × 1.2 = about NT$2,400–3,600 per month
Taipei City's Level 3 base is NT$3,000, so NT$3,000 × 1.2 = NT$3,600 is the top of that range. Some counties and cities add their own local top-up, which you have to confirm with that local government separately.
The subsidy can never exceed the rent actually written on your lease.
Who counts as Level 3
- Adult and under 40
- A single-person household
- Not economically or socially disadvantaged
That last condition sounds like a disqualification but works the other way round: if you are economically or socially disadvantaged, you move to Level 1 or Level 2 instead, where the amounts are higher.
You also need to meet the same three conditions as everyone else in the scheme: no home of your own, a real tenancy with a lease, and average monthly income per household member at or below three times the local minimum living cost.
If your situation changes, stop being Level 3
This is where money gets left on the table. If you marry within 2 years or have a minor child, you are no longer Level 3, and the newlywed or child-raising level and multiplier pay more:

From January 2026 there is a further top-up: +50% for a marriage registered within the last 2 years, and +50% per additional minor child (+100% for a child born in 2026 or later).

How to apply
Through the one scheme, not through anything youth-specific. Applications run from 9:00 on 1 January to 17:00 on 31 December and are handled as they arrive — not by lottery.
